The Gavi di Gavi white wine is one of the most important in Italy. Its production area is located in the Alto Monferrato, Piedmont. The wine capitals of this area are linked to the territories of Aqui, Ovada and Gavi.

While not lacking conspicuous production of Barbera del Monferrato and Moscato d'Asti, the most outstanding features of this area are from the white Cortese di Gavi that both upper Monferrato.

The Gavi di Gavi wine is vinified with Cortese, one of the most famous vineyards and typical of the area. These grapes, which are considered originating in the hills of Monferrato, were already known in 1700. The first description to get there is the Count Nuvolone that thus said about the grapes Cortese:  "It is good to eat, it makes good wine, is abundant and preserved." The grape bunches from medium to large, conical pyramid, with one or two wings. The berry, rather large, has golden-yellow skin in the sun and in the yellowish-green in the shade. Its grapes give the most important of dry white wines from Piedmont.

There are four important  wines in Italy that bear the name of Cortese:  Gavi one, that of the Tortona hills and the one at Oltrepò Pavese.  Among them, the Gavi di Gavi wine stands out for its special features. The causes of these uniqueness may perhaps be related to the production area. Gavi is a hilly Piedmontese town, where you can experience the sea air from nearby Liguria. The soil in these areas is calcareous tufaceous, which is crucial to foster the innate qualities of the grape.

The Gavi di Gavi wine has a typical straw color ,more or less pale. The smell is delicate and characteristic. The taste is dry, very fresh, pleasant. The minimum is 10.5 ° as far as  the alcohol content is concerned. It tastes very good in his early youth and in general at its best when uncorked, within the first year of life.

The culinary combinations possible with the Gavi di Gavi wine are countless. This renowned  white may be pleasantly  throughout the meal, even if you can enjoy it at its best when paired with fish, rice typical Piedmontese culture, delicate meats, seafood, cheese and cold cuts, pies, fries, buns.

Serve at 10 ° in tulip glasses, usually indicated for the white wine. Aperitif will be served an excellent companion for pleasant  and energetic moments , if frozen.
