Introduction

The computer technology is widely spreading worldwide as well as grows in applications depending on the demand from the end users of different computer related programs. The applications should get developed in a proper way for the purpose of meeting the end user demands and core requirements. It, therefore, goes to the demand of having a more standardized mode of developing an application that are of great quality to make sure that they meet the international standards.

Sriven Technologies is among the leading information technology firms based in the United States. They are concerned with the development of different applications based on the demand, and request of the client and the consultation services are all offered within the firm. Primarily, the firm came into the existence with the aim of providing consulting and information technology services in the current dynamic environment. In that case, Sriven Technologies firm consist of an expert team involved in designing, developing, and delivering business-driven related technology solutions with the major concern with the Internet-based technologies to make the products gain a more competitive advantage within the competitive market.

Sriven Technologies was established in the early 2000s in 2009 with the concentrated aim of meeting the below-defined objectives. Sriven Technologies have core objectives of valuing clients by catering the client’s needs with the maintenance highest quality. Establish a chain of a long-term partnership with the esteemed customers of the firm. Ensure and maintain some superior performance to have positivity in business relationships. Subsequently, the Sriven Technologies are committed with the objective of providing flexibility by enabling the adaptability to the changing technology worldwide and the frequent changing of end user ‘customers’ requirements. Lastly, ensure that the Sriven Technologies employees are comfortable.

As an information technology firm concerned with designing, development and delivery of applications and consultation services, a programmer analyst is essential and required for a high rate within the firm. A programmer analyst is crucial to any organization with the core activities involved. He/she gets concerned with performing the duties of a system analyst and acting fully as a computer programmer. In this case, the system analysts aids and is expected to facilitate fully the designing and developing of software and the computer systems depending on the technology trend. He/she further concerned with the implementation of the software by serving as the computer program. By acting as the computer programmer, the programmer analyst will be expected to have the skills and the knowledge of writing computer programs, updating the already developed programs and repairing the crushed programs.

During my internship at Sriven Technologies, I will be working as a programmer analyst for the firm. I will have to provide the designing, and development services as well as the consultation services since I will be in the shoes of a system analyst. The activities will get done concurrently as the Sriven Technologies does work towards the meeting of the client requirements with the provision of quality services.

Methodology

Action research is a collective self-reflective inquiry process that defines the undertaking of some social and interactive practices to understand a given phenomenon challenge and provide some long lasting solution. It defines a process form of allowing an individual to interact directly with a component for the identification of a problem and develop some actions on rectification of the issues. Therefore, a process of helping an actor in having the improvement of the activities being undertaken for the good f the overall project (Richard, 2000).

History of Action Research

The origin of Action Research process gets not well understood within the literature. According to the studies of Kemmis and McTggert (1988), they take to argue that Action Research began with an American psychologist, Kurt Lewin. On his side, McKernan (1991) terms Action Research as a methodology that has evolved over the last century. In his definition that Action Research explains the root derivative of a scientific method in the late nineteenth century. The process got applied by other social reformists other then Lewin such as Lippitt and Radke in the mid-1946, Coprey in 1953 and Collier in 1945.

The process has had different definitions based on the application. However, it all significantly define that Action Research is participatory. The individuals were applying the Action Research process methodology in the implementation of the project they must have the full interaction through the whole process. Based on the fact that Action Research is participatory, historically Action Research is categorized into scientific-technical view of the solving problem, practical- deliberative mode of Action Research and Critical- emancipator method (McCutcheon & Jurg,1990).

The scientific-technical view of the solving problem involves the researcher and the practitioner where the research does identify the problem followed by the specific intervention that will have to agree with the practitioner who is technical for the implementation of the intervention for the identified problem. In practical- deliberative action research, the researcher and the practitioner comes together for the identification of the potential problem within the project, the underlying causes of the problem and the possible interventions for the problem. The practical action research takes to have the defined improvement to the project through the application of the human intellect. The enhancement approach or the critical- emancipator approach, the research does work with the closeness between the problem identified, and the theory applied to the definition and determination of the problem for the explanation and resolution of the defined problem. It promotes consciousness in the identification of the solutions by the practitioners of the problem within the project.

Action research process

Action research process is the mode of undertaking some actions in a chronological manner for the resolution of the identified problem whose solution gets implemented as a project. The actions are done systematically prior each activity following each other appropriately. The Action research methodology process can get defined as a cyclic process in its nature of the operation. The actions get undertaken in four primary phases where, the activities within one phase must meet the target in an iteration of the project for the move to the other iteration. They are planning, action, observation, and reflection.

The Action research process starts with the reconnaissance that defines the analysis of the problem through which appropriate planning gets defined for the identification of the actions to resolve the problem. During this planning phase, all actions are defined for the defined iteration of the project so as to give the way for the outlining mode of executing the actions. Action phase follows to describe all mode of ways of implementing the activity prior the defined iteration within the project. Subsequently, the follow-up step is observation; observation explains the participatory measure of Action research process where the research will have to observe all the results and mode of implementing the activities and draw some recommendations. Lastly, the reflection step is essential in an action research process as it displays the outcomes of the actions and gives the way to the following iteration.

Application uses

Action research methodology is widely applicable to different fields on the basis that actions involve some practical actions and observation outlining the project. Mention the business, information technology, engineering, health and overall research. The Action research is appropriate to my work of undertaking the internship as a programmer analyst. The process will require undertaking some activities through which I will have to make observation for the good of the clients
