Though the official first day of spring happened a while ago, but hey its never too late to start thinking about summer! Since warmer months are around the corner, its time to say hello to your cooling systems who are probably thick with grime. Don’t get too comfy in your blanket and relax, expecting your cooling system to work efficiently all summer. God forbid, if your AC broke down, its no fun game to sweat all day long! So roll-up your sleeves, its time to kick off cleaning-your-cooling-system regime. Follow these 5 quick steps to maintain your AC and other cooling systems:
1.Replace with new filters: You can schedule an HVAC maintenance professional to change the filters of your cooling system. Nevertheless, make sure to check on them every month. Many AC filters need regular maintenance and replacements. Also clear off debris from the system for efficient working.
2.Check the thermostats: Thermostats are responsible for automatic regulation of the temperature. Test thermostats to ensure that they are in working condition. If you find any broken thermostats, replace with new ones immediately.
3.Clear drainage conduits: Every AC units have drainage holes located at the bottom. Clear clog or blockage into the holes to prevent any built-up of moisture which might further damage the system.
4.Clean it up: Debris get accumulated in the air vents and floor registers. Vacuum the dirt and debris away from the system. If the grime is too thick, use soapy cleansers to cleanse off the dirt.
5.Cut down any heat source: The sun light coming through windows or doors can quickly heat up a room. Cover up the heat source using blinds or drapes to cut off sunlight. It will quickly cool down your entire house.
6.Use ceiling fans: Honestly, ceiling fans do not reduce room temperature. However, they make the rooms more comfortable. Moreover, a ceiling fan can also be used to circulate the air inside a room. If you don’t have one, how about installing it right away?
7.Reduce humidity: Humidity can prevent faster cooling. Use a dehumidifier to reduce humidity in your rooms. You can consult a professional regarding dehumidifier.
Start working on your cooling systems and ensure proper working throughout summer. By following these simple hacks, you can also slash your cooling bills!
