So, you've just signed up for your new home based networking business and it's just a matter of time before your automated cash machine starts cranking you thousands of dollars. You are excited. They said it was going to be easy. If you just plug in to the System you are on your way.

If you have fallen for this kind of hype, you are in for a rude awakening. You see, if you actually knew the truth about all those testimonials you hear, that the person now generating all these big dollars has actually been working at their success for a long time; that they have probably failed many times over; failed their way to success if you will. If you knew the truth, you would at least be certain about what was in front of you.

But no, so many new home based business owners are not prepared for what lies ahead. Success in home based businesses requires at least competence in 2 arena's; Marketing and Conversation. And it takes acquiring these new skills and applying them consistently over a long period of time in order to become the person that creates huge results.

So where do you go to learn these skills? And how hard are they to learn? For many, the first time this requirement becomes accepted knowledge is after attending a company sponsored event. And at that event, the reality is probably delivered with that special cool-aid on the side so the "story" goes down a little easier. Yet so many new home based business owners have already left the game long before ever arriving at a company event.

They were lured in on a promise, and what they are experiencing is something else.

So know this. If you are going to enroll in a home based business, be it network marketing, direct sales, or any business for that matter, you must build your people skills and your marketing skills. You must be able to generate leads, and then know what to say to them to convert them into customers.

You can read many stories of success using the Internet to market and somehow automate the cash machine. The part you rarely hear about is that it takes lots of time and effort to

learn Internet marketing and then to implement the strategies that have been proven to produce results.

So how do you learn Internet Marketing? You must find a resource that can and is willing to teach you. A few leaders in these direct sales network marketing companies and/or MLM companies know how to market effectively on the Internet, yet few are willing to teach you their secrets. They figure that they put in the time to learn what they know and to build their infrastructure. As long as they are in the same business as you, they view you as a competitor.

So what's the answer? Where can you go to learn? There are many Internet Marketing Training programs available. The good ones cost around $1,000 for hands on training, and e-books start at $40. If you have no technical background, you will need the live interactive event training programs. If you have intermediate or above average computer skills, you may be able to learn through the e-books and continuity training programs.

No matter how you acquire the knowledge, be ready to commit the time, lots of time, to making this happen. You only need 10-20 quality leads a day to build a large organization, if you also know what to say to these leads. If you don't also build your people skills, then you will need a much more elaborate marketing system and much more traffic to produce the same results as someone that knows what to say and how to say it.

Which brings us to the 2nd skill set required for major success, and perhaps the more difficult of the 2 to master. Sure, Internet marketing will take time to learn and deploy, however, deploying your marketing message on the Internet is a collection of lots of small simple things. All added up it's a bit overwhelming, but doable for most.

So now you have that lead on the phone, they just called you from your website, what now? Most novice networkers and home based business operators think it's time to go into sales mode, to start yakking about products, programs, and opportunity. That is exactly what not to do.

For so many, when faced with being on the phone to create results, they behave just like the worst salesperson they have ever had to listen to while having their dinner interrupted by a tele-marketer. Many people simply don't understand exactly what to say.

If you listen to many of the sales trainers in the industry most will tell you that you need to Connect with these people, you need to penetrate their resistance and build rapport, trust, and credibility. So, how do you do this? Is there a way to learn this skill.

Yes there is, but it's not as simple as Internet Marketing for most. Mastering relationship building, high speed relationship building at that, requires in depth learning and application over a long period of time. You must face the fact that at first you will be bad at it. It takes being bad at it for a while, and continuing to do it anyway that builds the skills, the toughness, the tenacity and emotional stability to view the phone as the ATM that's in your home.

Consider this … I came from a background of being a bricks and mortar business owner for over 17 years before I launched my first direct sales network marketing home based business. It took me about 7 weeks to crack the code. I was horrible, but I focused on getting better every single day, and eventually I did.

It always amazed me when comparing my results to others who were better marketers than me, how I converted far more prospects into customers. So much so that I was able to become an industry top earner, a 7 figure per year earner in merely 14 months.

So it is clear, that those with conversation mastery have a distinct advantage over those that do not have conversation mastery. So many people try to hide behind their Internet Marketing because they want to avoid speaking with people.

Those with conversation skills, those that embrace personal conversation, earn far more money and have far more fulfilling relationships. Take it from someone that has abundance and technical skills, it is the work I have done on my personal skills and relationships skills that has brought true happiness and freedom into my own life.

Don't fear conversation skills, embrace them. It won't be uncomfortable for long. And you will have far more fun, and work far less if you master the art of interpersonal communication.

Being able to find the right people to build relationships with; that's what marketing is all about.
