People go on diet hoping they will trim down their weight. While dieting is a good way to shed off those extra pounds, there are cases wherein it is dieting that causes a person to become fat. This is true for extreme and improper dieting.

Scientific studies have revealed that stress can cause fat build ups. When a person is stressed, he tends to eat more. Stress causes the depletion of the brain’s chemicals and the imbalance of the neurotransmitters. People tend to replenish the brain chemicals and keep neurotransmitter on a proper level by eating more. Since the effect of food is short lived, people are more inclined to eat more and more.

Why Dieting Sometimes Fail

Dieting fails because people don’t have the right goals. They want to rush weight loss, therefore, skip meals and deprive themselves of food. They end up feeling burned out and tired. This will have a short term weight loss effect. But it will also result to a serious craving for food. Try skipping lunch and you’ll end up eating more for dinner.

One important thing to consider why dieting fails is stress. Extreme or rushed dieting causes pressure and stress on the patient. It gives the patient the feeling that eating is sin. Because the patient wants to maintain the diet program, he will do everything to stick to it. This is stressful.

When dieting becomes stressful, the person will feel deprived and would seek for solace from something else. This time food becomes so tempting. Improper dieting results to stress. So when a person engages in improper dieting, he ends up being fat.

Dieting Need Not Be Stressful

Dieting should not make a person feel stressed. It should boost a person’s confidence and self esteem. It shouldn’t promote deprivation and starvation. The best way to diet and lose weight is to cut down on unhealthy foods and start eating the right foods.

You have to feed your brain to avoid feeling stressed and worn out. Your brain and your body will not be able to function well without its fuel – food. The key is to stick to a healthy diet. Know the right body size for you and maintain it. Eat the right foods at right amounts. There are also weight loss supplements that can make you feel energized even with less food.
