Generally, I like shiny new things. I never liked second-hand furniture or second-hand clothes. I do not want to wear something that already bore someone. The idea same kind of disgusts me. As for second-hand furniture, but I like being at home decorated with new, shiny things. I do not want some worn, weathered couch in my living room. One thing I always liked used, however, is books. I can not get enough used books, and visit them whenever I get the chance.

Some of my friends would consider these second-hand books, but I consider them antiques. What's ledger on second-hand stores, you can find your readings, which are long exhausted. Publishing decisions are not based on the quality of the book, but on the ability to sell. At second-hand bookshops, you may be able to find something that, in its time, was quite classic, but has fallen by the wayside in the midst of millions of books that have been printed over the years. I found a few books incredible opportunity in my time. I found, for example, an illustrated encyclopedia of the ancient world from the end of the century. It is fascinating because it describes in detail the views of science at the time, the views now we see as outdated and obsolete, but which at the time were the vanguard. The best used books can be a window into the past, allowing us to see how people saw themselves and their world at a certain moment in time.

Another great thing about the second-hand books is that they are such major decorative additions to the house. I know that this is a bit of me, but in my salon books not only serve as a school function. I like people to know that I am intelligent and well read, and many books on various subjects translated admirably this impression. The books are printed in a fairly standard and uniform, but with old ancient books, there were many different conventions. Some of them are printed on fancy paper by hand, uneven edges. Others are sizes or unusual forms. Every once in a while, I even find used books filled with illuminated pages. They are as diverse and colorful eye candy that I can not resist the temptation. Even if it is years before reading a book, I will continue to benefit from my shelf.
