What You Need To Know About Acne

Millions of people around the world deal with Acne every day. It is a common problem not just with teenagers but also affects adults in all walks of life.

Normally acne hits during puberty when the body is full of hormones and is going through biological changes. However, it is not uncommon to get acne at any point in time in life and for a variety of reasons.

What is Acne exactly?

Acne is basically a disease, which causes inflammation of the skin primarily the follicles in which hair resides. This causes eruptions to occur that are known as pimples. When these follicles become blocked, by oil dirt, keratin and sebum it causes glands within the skin to increase production and this forms either one of two things, a black or white head.

The redness that usually occurs is a result of a bacterium, which also can cause pimples to form. Acne does not just affect the face but can be found anywhere on the body. Normally after puberty usually early twenties acne diminishes or goes away but there are things that can trigger an outbreak.

What are the triggers that can cause an outbreak of Acne?

Hormones usually in the high levels during puberty but can be brought on by menstrual cycles and pregnancy.

Stress- this is probably one of the biggest causes and triggers of acne out side of hormones.

Some medications, exposure to chemical compounds, and allergic reactions can also trigger acne.

Another trigger is the build up of dead skin; this can be resolved by frequently washing with an exfoliating product to prevent the build up.

Finally, diet what you eat affects your body and its chemistry which can lead to outbreaks.

Treatment

There is a variety of ways to treat and prevent outbreaks of acne. For regular acne there is a wide selection of over the counter solutions that can provide relief and help to control the frequency and appearance of pimples, most of these products are medicated washes and soaps but some are gels, pads, and creams, which are applied directly to the skin.

Getting plenty of rest, drinking lots of water and making sure to eat properly with a balanced diet can do a long way as well to helping to prevent acne or diminish its appearance and frequency.

There are a number of resources online that can provide you with information on the treatment and symptoms of acne. For more severe cases, it may be advantageous to seek the advice of medical professionals in regards to a treatment plan.
