The 1990’s were the start of something free. MP3’s were being downloaded off of the internet with no fees. People could download any song that they wanted to without having to worry about laws, regulations, or restrictions. This was great for all fans of music because they no longer had to pay their hard earned money for an album that would consist of one good song.

Millions of songs were getting downloaded and in 1999 the people downloading these songs were in for a surprise. In 2000, Metallica found out that a demo they had recorded ended up leaking out on the internet before it was officially released. They found out when radio stations started playing the song "I Disappear" by accident, they had thought it had already been released. The band ended up filing a law suit and shortly after they did Dr. Dre followed.

The musicians along with the record labels complained that they were losing money. They had argued the peer to peer sites not only hurt record sales but went against the copyright laws. These sites said that they were going to keep it that way because they claimed the artists and record labels were no longer producing music that was worth buying.

After a long dispute the U.S. Government ended up shutting down P2P sites and included a heavy fine for anyone who continued with the services. This didn’t scare any of the sites though because shortly after the law was passed hundreds of other peer to peer sites were established.

The music industry realized that they could not win this argument and they had to find another way of selling their music. They started sites that provided mp3 downloads for a fee and offered their customers better quality and faster download times. There are a number of these pay sites available today and if you are interested in finding Metallica MP3s I have included some tips when finding a good mp3 site.

I recommend finding a reviews website. These sites save you a lot of time and usually a lot of money. A reviews website will help you decide what are the best sites to spend your money on. A reviews site usually will have the top sites on the net and provide their customers with very useful information. They will search the internet high and low in looking for your particular need.

When you visit one of these sites make sure that they don’t suggest any unethical or illegal sites to download your music from. Record companies have sued people for downloading music from illegal websites don’t let this happen to you.
