Samsung’s unique Smart Surface Mounting Technology compresses powerful features within a super slim form. With a thinness of only 10.9mm, the Samsung U600 comes equipped with an integrated 3.13 mega-pixel camera with flash and 4x digital zoom for ultra sharp images. The Samsung U600 is the first of the second-generation Ultra phones to hit the market and is the replacement for the very popular Samsung D900 ultra-slim slide phone. At just 10.9 mm it’s even thinner than the D900, making it the slimmest slide phone available. It is 10 g lighter than D900 and you don’t even feel that you are carrying a cell phone in your pocket. U600 comes with an excellent music player. You can create a play list up to 30 songs. The phone supports a wide range of music formats. The music player supports a wide range of formats - MP3, ACC, ACC+ and e-AAC+ - and has very good sound reproduction. You can use the stereo headset supplied by Samsung or a wireless Bluetooth headset. You can also listen to music through the built-in loudspeaker which features a Bang & Olufsen digital power amplifier. You even have a video camera for sharp resolution recording with sound where you can enjoy the playback on the phone’s large 2.2" 262K colour QVGA TFT-LCD screen.U600 has an internal memory about 60 MB which is nearly 10 MB less then D900.The product has a memory card slot to meet your memory needs. Maximum memory support is up to 2GB.

A PC data link kit is included in the sales package, for transferring music from a PC. The messaging on Samsung U600 is cool looking and it includes support for email attachments and a document viewer for viewing MS Office, PDF and HTML files. The available EDGE connection is nice for fast downloads. The phone supports Bluetooth connectivity. You can attach your phone through blue tooth for adding songs or applications. Also you can connect through USB cable which is included in the package. U600 also had a facility of TV connector. You can watch your pictures and videos directly to your TV. U600 also has a FM radio. Battery life of is 4hr in talk time and 270 hrs in standby mode. Most of all, the U600 works as a lightweight, ultra-slim, look-at-me, funky-slider kind of phone. It's got the 3 megapixel camera and the music player to back up the looks too. The 3.2-megapixel camera takes pictures in six resolutions, from 2,048x1,536 down to 320x240. Other features include a self timer, six color effects, 44 fun frames, a macro setting, multishot and mosaic shot modes, exposure metering, three image quality choices, brightness and white balance settings, an adjustable ISO, and a digital zoom. There's also a selection of camera sounds--or you can turn them off entirely.

The battery is less powerful than the D900’s, but Samsung claim that battery performance has actually been improved due to a new technology called OPUS (Optimized Power Usage Solution). The navigation array is unlike anything we've seen before on a Samsung handset. Instead of the standard trapezoidal navigation toggle, the U600's is four-way circular control. It's raised slightly above the surface of the phone, so it's pretty easy to use. You also can set it to act as a shortcut to four user-defined functions. The central OK button is also tactile, but we'd prefer that it open the main menu when the phone is in standby mode rather than activating the Web browser. The keypad buttons are exposed when the slider is up and there's enough distance between the top row of keys and the boom of the slider. Though they're completely flush raised ridges between the rows give them some definition. On the other hand, they're a tad slippery so they don't lend themselves well to rapid texting or dialing. The keys are brightly backlit for dim environments and the numbers on the keys are large. Users will appreciate the slightly raised d-pad for its ability to make sliding open the phone simpler. The design is really conservative, meaning that not a lot of people should find reason to complain.
