When it comes to men's accessories, nothing is more underrated to wear than a classy watch. A men's watch is actually more of a piece of fashion than a tool to tell time anymore. The right watch can actually be a reflections of your personality. It is a simple yet quick way of showing a confident and successful image to the world. Almost anybody can own a bunch of inexpensive Timex watches throughout their life but its those expensive ones that last a lifetime in quality and prestige.

The idea I'm trying to convey is a watch is one piece of a man's wardrobe that every man needs. Don't even think about wearing a gold chains or even a thumb-rings boy. The idea is to look good while looking normal. With a nice, classy watch, you get what you pay for. Here are some of the important things you need to keep your eyes out for next time you go watch shopping:

  • A stainless-steel bracelet - If you're looking for a good watch, then you better be sure the bracelet is made from a durable stainless steel. It looks sharper and more expensive than leather, plus its simply more practical. What makes stainless steel so great is it is nice enough to wear to a formal occasion in a suit but yet casual enough for any other outfit. It's dressy enough to be worn with a business suit and casual enough for other occasions. Stainless steel watches are waterproof too.

  • Face and strap color - Another new trend in watch design is with the dials and straps. Watches, both expensive and cheap, are now being made in bold and exciting colors. Just be careful about buying a colored watch if it is going to be your everyday watch. A bright red watch won't look good to wear to work in your business suit. Instead, save that red watch to wear for outfits that match it. Trendy watches should be your alternative watch choice.

  • The face - A major no no when it comes to choosing a watch is the size of its face in comparison to your wrist. For a man with a large wrist, a normal sized face ends up looking like he's wearing a small women's watch. He would need to choose one with a larger face to offset his wrist size. The newest trend in watchmaking is huge watch faces. All of the leading actors in Hollywood are now sporting watches with these large faces. You probably should too.

  • Its water resistance - One of the selling points for a waterproof watch is that you can go swimming with it on. Let's be serious here for a second...Who actually does that and if so how often? Most people take their watches off to go swimming simply cause it is just easier to do. The main reason why people buy waterproof watches is if they get caught in the rain. Be aware that when a watch company says that their products are waterproof, it doesn't mean they are totally safe from moisture. Some resist from splashing, rain, sweat, etc.

I totally agree with Joshua...when you write an article titled "Watch Out for These Tips to Buying a Men's Watch" you'd think the author would have done some research and not "Do as Hollywood does" & steel watches are waterproof. A sixteen yr old would prob give you the same advice

The person who wrote this article knows nothing about watches. Only an idiot would say, "Stainless steel watches are waterproof." No watch is "waterproof." 200 meter watches are good for diving, 100 meter watches are good for swimming, 30 meter watches are good for getting wet in the rain. You must go by the manufacturer's rating, not the fact that it has a stainless steel band. Secondly, you say, "All of the leading actors in Hollywood are now sporting watches with these large faces. You probably should too." Oh great, now that the Hollywood idiots are wearing wristwatches with HUGE dials, then *I* should too? Those oversized clown watches are SO lame. It says, "I'm a fop," when you wear one. Don't be a watch fop.
