Every woman looks forward to her wedding day. While most of us dream of elaborate weddings with all the finer things, these days those kinds of weddings just aren't practical for some people. If you can stop yourself from spending unnecessary amounts of money, cheap weddings are very possible. Here are some things you can do to prevent unnecessary spending:
Bridal Shops:
Don't let them order a size you know will be too big. When you try on a wedding dress, you know what size you will wear. They will often tell you that they must allow for this or that, and then you end up paying alteration fees for their seamstress to take the dress up. Cheap weddings stay cheap when you do things like make sure they order a dress in the proper size.
Vendors:
No matter what kind of vendor you're dealing with, make sure that you know all of their fees up front. Whether it's the caterer or the band, you want to make sure that they don't end up charging you some sort of fees for nonsense things. Get your agreement in writing, and ask them flat out if there are any hidden fees.
Don't Say Wedding:
Here's a secret to getting good prices when you're calling around and getting price quotes from vendors: Don't tell them it's for a wedding. This seems kind of silly, but simply telling them that you're having an 'event' can save you money.
The word 'wedding' replaces vendors' eyes with dollar signs. Suddenly the prices hike way up, often three or four times the price of an event that has just as many guests as a wedding.
Once you have their quote, you can haggle with the prices to get a lower cost. Cheap weddings result from following tips like this. But can it really be done?
