The business world moves at an incredible pace these days. The world of viruses, worms, spyware and even malware move faster and are usually one step ahead of computer users as well as programs used for PC Protection. That said it can be difficult for anyone or business to keep up with the changes needed to keep personal computers safe as well as keep your Network Security functioning as it should.
Of course all but a few PC Security programs have downloadable updates for both their software and for virus definitions but even those that do are usually lacking in one area or another. As an individual who uses a computer both at home and at work I’ve seen my fair share of both good and bad PC Security Software. Bad applications can cause more damage and waste more of your time than if you where to leave your computer and network wide open but in general most of the subpar solutions are more akin to being just like leaving your computer wide open.
One of the major complaints many tech savvy and professional users have is that intrusion prevention tools usually don’t work that well. It’s very rare to see a Internet Security program keep threats out, even if it’s only a small amount. Typically the average user could scan his/her hard drives for infections and remove the same ones ever day. This can be quite disheartening especially when the infections eat up your computers resources causing slow downs and require multiple reboots. It’s even worse when some programs are unable to be started because of a high level of infection.
The majority of us both in business and in our homes more or less make use of the more popular and sometimes expensive Computer Security software that’s available. I would encourage all users no matter their level of experience to spend some time and do Security Research. After tiring of having to use multiple programs to keep my computer clean with only slightly average results I began doing some research to see what else was out there. My initial thought was "I hope to find something that does it all in one punch". Well I didn’t have to search to long before one program stood out amongst the rest. During my research I asked through forums and blogs what company or program would people recommend as an alternative to the more well known applications.
The one name that came up consistently more than any others was eEye and their Desktop Security application called Blink Personal Edition. I decided to mosey on over to the eEye website and take a look for myself. Now mind you, I had expected to pay for Blink right up front as I’ve been forced to do with other programs in the past but I found right away that Blink Personal is offered on the eEye website as a Free Antivirus Software download.
Blink Personal was incredibly easy to install but even more impressive was just how efficient the program really was. Blink found a large number of infections that my older Endpoint Security programs didn’t even detect. There were also a few that they older programs could never remove but Blink took care of those as well. I tooled around with Blink a bit more and found that it is capable of true intrusion prevention and with little trouble keeps the majority of infections out of your computer and/or network and raises the bar on zero day attack protection.
Being so impressed with Blink I upgraded to the Professional edition for use in my home. This version also works well for both home and business use though it’s geared towards the latter. I know have the ability to run a Vulnerability Assessment test whenever I need to so that adjustments can be made and the Computer Network Security tools can be reworked. I would seriously recommend Blink to anyone who’s grown weary of using outdated applications that only give the illusion of keeping your computer safe.
