Have you thought about writing an ebook, but have been stymied by the nyths out there about it? Let's take a little time and explore them and then put them to rest.

Firstly, writing an ebook is NOT difficult. Ebooks are usually easier and faster to create than regular print books. One reason is that your average ebook will be only fifty to seventy five pages long. This in comparison to hundreds of print pages means you can more tightly focus on the subject and not have to "fluff" your text with filler content. Creating a concise outline will help you tighten up the focus of your topic. If you approach your writing in the manner that each chapter is an article, then by writing one at a time, you can write several in one day. You may initially be surprised how quickly your ebook comes into existence.

There are several ways to promote your finished ebook and none of them are difficult. There are many online ebook resellers eager to add inventory to their sites and 50% commissions on each sale. Search engines are helpful in finding many of them. Clickbank is one of the major reseller sites. While they do charge a substantial up-front fee to promote your ebook, they compensate this by having thousands of affiliates to promote the books they carry. One item you must be careful to investigate with any of them is that you are not bound to an exclusive promotion contract. The more promotional resources you can use, the more potential customers you will have.

A third myth is that it is always better to do it yourself. While this gives you complete artistic control, there are online publishing houses that can offer excellent editing and proofreading services to aid you in having a well polished product in the end. They can help with formatting and artwork to give that professional look and feel. They will also have pre-made contacts to other publishing and promotional sites to increase your book's exposure. They will be able to help get listings and reviews into various newsletters and online venues and thereby increase sales so that everyone profits by this cooperative effort.

Finally, never rest on your hoped for laurels. You can't sit still after your first book is written. The secret is to have several ebooks in circulation to take advantage of the income from all of them. Start on another project as soon as the first is done. No book or author stays hot forever. Having more in the works can more quickly have another book ready for sale to those who did have a favorable experience with your first volume. By never slowing down you could find yourself with several high selling books in circulation at any given time and your name becoming much more recognizable that that of a one-time author.

So ignore the myths. The quickest way to success is to get started and just do it. Accept help where it is offered and live the dream of writing for a living
