Non-crafty types can even get into the spirit cause it only involves easy accordion folding - a la kindergarten class. There are more elaborate, hard, and artistic ways to make paper flowers, but for the beginning this technique is just right for adding a splash of exciting color to a table showpiece or place setting.
So, how to make paper flowers? Here we go.
equipment:What you'll need to make the flower is a piece of square paper. It doesn't need to be origami paper, the only thing that maters is that its square, but if you have origami paper its better. What you have to prepare is 1 package of multicolored tissue paper or crepe paper, 1 package of green pipe cleaners, and scissors. I suggest you pick the Tissue Paper Flower kit from Klutz or the Giant Paper Flower bag, they're so easy to get started with. You can shop around for specific items later at Amazon later once you know exactly what you want to get.
Instructions:Let’s get started with making some flowers. Acquire four to five sheets of the tissue or crepe paper and layer them (if you want to make paper flowers with multicolored flowers, use different colors). Cut into 8-inch squares. Keep the sheets layered, take one set of squares and fold that one set of squares like an accordion so it looks like a thin rectangle. Now, at the middle (exactly the center) of the rectangle, cut a tiny v-shaped notch on both sides. And then take the end of a pipe cleaner and twist it roughly the notch. With the stem pointing straight down, smoothly pull up one layer of tissue paper into the center. Pull up the remaining layers, not all at once but one by one. Now repeat for the other side of the flower. Once all the layers are pulled up, put them in place so it looks natural. After that continue making more flowers as many as you can with the remaining stacks of squares. Keep practice to make it better and better, and also try to make the paper flowers looks more natural.
Tips and variations:There are so many variations paper flowers, for sturdier stems, wrap two pipe cleaners together. You can cut smaller or larger squares to change the size of your paper flowers. If you want to make thicker flowers add more layers, but if you want to make thinner ones so add less layer. To make a shiny effect, dip the top edges in white glue and then dip in loose glitter. Glue a pin on the back of a flowers for a fluffy lapel decoration. Make smaller flowers and string them together as garland. Thats how to make paper flowers.
