In today's economy it is hard to find enough money for the necessities let alone for the "wants" that fill our minds. This makes purchasing clothes a hassle and many of us are left wondering around in clothes that have seen better day. Updating your wardrobe doesn't need to be costly and you can still fit in those designer jeans you've been eying for months. With a little consumer know how you can fit clothing into your budget easily and feel confident in the new clothes you've purchased.

  • Take Your Time - Don't assume that discount shopping is something that happens in the matter of minutes. The first thing you need to understand is that shopping for the best price often means shopping for more than a day. You may even find that you need to hold off on buying particular items until they are marked down more. You need to put effort into finding the sale items that fit your style and this can mean going from store to store in search of the perfect clothing.

  • Don't Be Ashamed - Discount shopping is a way of life. Everyone from the wealthy to the not so wealthy discount shops. There is nothing wrong with wanting to buy clothing at the lowest cost. Discount shopping is an excellent way to make the dollar go farther. While you may have found sweater for forty dollar before sales, discount shopping may leave you with an entire outfit for under forty dollars.

  • Dress for the Occasion - You're going shopping, not out for the evening. Leave your pumps at home and swap them out for a comfy pair of sneakers, sandals or clogs. You also will want to find clothing that is easily removed and put on with minimal stress. Several layers of clothing or shirts with plenty of buttons can make trying clothing in a real hassle.

  • Shop Online - Shopping online can be a great way to really take advantage of close out bargains or seasonal apparel sales. Though the store of your choice may not have your size in that pair of must of jeans, the website may have them at the same price or lower. Also, consider the amount of time you will save now that you don't have to leave your house. Looking through clearance at 6 different stores is far easier online than it is by foot.

  • Stay Informed - Know when the sales are, when the prices will be cut for the last time, and what coupons are available. Knowing these things makes you a savvy sales shopper and you can end up saving a lot more money than you would if you were uninformed. Utilize the internet to find coupons or get on mailing lists that update customers of upcoming sales.

  • Be Open Minded - The worst thing you can do as a discount shopper is to go into a store expecting to find a particular style of clothing. Since things are picked over or from the beginning of seasons, you will have a hard time finding anything if you're not willing to look through everything. Looking for a particular item will leave you frustrated and you may miss out on a real deal on something that looks great on you.
