#1. Highest Chairlift in North America
In the #2 reason why Breckenridge is better than Vail, I mentioned that Breckenridge has the highest chairlift in North America. But that is such an important point that it not only deserves its own paragraph, but it’s actually the #1 reason to visit Breckenridge instead of Vail! The Imperial Express Super Chair drops you off at an oxygen-thin elevation of 12,840ft above sea level. The runs up there are not for the faint of heart! I’ll warn you that the wind can get kicking at that altitude, but if that scares you away, you probably don’t have the testicular fortitude to handle those runs anyway. So put on your helmet and get ready for some speed because from the highest lift in North America, there’s only one way to go: down. Once you’ve conquered the runs off the Imperial Express Super Chair, everything else will seem like the hills of North Carolina and you will have earned bragging rights when talking about your ski trip back home.
