CAMP PHILOSOPHY

WE ARE COMMITTED TO KIDS

The development of a camper, both as an individual and as a member of the community, is a core aspect of the Chateaugay philosophy. Camp Chateaugay is a special place which our campers cherish throughout their lives.

One of our biggest responsibilities is to ensure that we provide the most nurturing staff possible, in a non-competitive environment. Our staff is comprised of mature, caring role models, who persuade campers to reach for life; to try new things and develop talents in favorite activities.

We strive to encourage campers to participate in activities, sports, and creative arts, so they may have an opportunity to witness first hand what they are capable of accomplishing. By supplying a strong emphasis on individual instruction and participation we provide our campers with the opportunity to improve their skills.

Introduction

Memories for a Lifetime – A Word on Camp Spirit

Nestled on the scenic north shore of one of the great Adirondack Lakes, Camp Chateaugay's captivating wilderness is playground to campers of all abilities.

Built as a summer estate in 1917, the camp's character has evolved through many years. Today, modern activities and amenities, coupled with spectacular wilderness opportunity, make it foremost in a summer camp experience

Exceptional instructors and counselors actively encourage self-discovery among campers, which in turn, promotes self-esteem.

The opportunity to try new activities, gives campers the chance to find that they are talented in a sport or art that they might never have explored.

Campers are encouraged to participate in team sports, fostering a sense of community. They develop warm and lasting friendships, as attested to by the return of our campers . . . season to season; generation after generation. Campers feel good about themselves while learning respect for one another. This sets the groundwork for productive and successful lives. Chateaugay will continue to build on a solid foundation, forever seeking ways to provide a secure and supportive environment that nurtures the growth of its young people
