Vinyl signs are high impact outdoor advertisements that allow you to market to your potential customers in the vicinity. Part and parcel of consumer purchases come in a large part from impulse buying. And creating high impact advertisements allow you to tap into passersby and turn them into a market base.
Remember that your banner, graphic and window signs, and such will be displayed in a specific location. Use this context to enhance the impact of your vinyl sign. Here are some things you should consider to take the most use of the existing environment to work to your advantage.
Observe patterns.
Use your vinyl signs in the context of your customer behavior and the general observable patterns for those at close proximity. Here are some considerations you may have neglected to take into account. Walk around the proximate area at different times of day and make the following observations:
• Is it a high traffic or high density area?
This should give you an indication on where to place your vinyl sign and the amount of information you can place. High traffic areas may be an advantage as it gives you more people to market to, but signs placed at eyelevel are likely to be blocked for other passersby. In high traffic areas, place your prints over the head.
• How fast do people normally walk?
There are areas that are conducive for people to stroll around while other areas require them to move at a faster pace. Catching their attention is one thing and delivering the message in the time you hold their attention is just as important.
Pictures can tell a story in a few seconds it takes to view it. This is a great attention grabber for slow moving traffic who can give your ads a few seconds and a little thought. Fast moving traffic on the other hand will only give your signs a glance, or a fast impression. Use easy to read text and very simple solid graphics.
• Can people stop and look around?
What can you expect when your signs attract a customers attention? When the customers can afford to have the time, your efforts should be to invite the customers in and look around. These can be casual window shoppers who are on the look out for something that catches their eyes. Again graphics and pictures can work wonders.
If your business is in a busy street, people will only stop by when they know you have what they need but have little time to walk in and ask around. Place a banner stand outside your store that details your product list. Finding something they need is more likely to draw them in than pictures or graphics. When they are in a hurry, at least they can take a mental note for next time.
• Does the density increase during the day, or at sun down?
There are businesses that cater best to customers who come after office hours, while there are those whose main clientele are early morning shoppers. This should tell you whether backlighting or spotlighting your vinyl signs are important enough to justify the cost of installing such light fixtures with your vinyl banners.
