Caesarean is a surgery in which the delivery of baby is done through cutting the front wall of the abdomen to open the womb. It is an abdominal surgery in which there are risks involved. There can be risk of infection, blood loss, side effects to the baby or any other complication which the mother has to face. A caesarean section or C-section is indicated only when an operation is required to be done. And, if the operation is not done within time then there is a risk to the health of baby or the mother.
There are many circumstances responsible for caesarean section. Some of them include:
The baby inside is not receiving adequate oxygen. And vaginal delivery is not possible at a particular point of time. If the mother is going through any heart problem or diabetes then doing a normal delivery can put her life to risk. If the mother has HIV infection then caesarean reduces the probability of infection in the child. It is necessary in the condition when you are expecting more than one baby i.e. twins or multiple births. In the case when the mother is having high blood pressure.
There are some other factors also which depict the need of caesarean section. In all such conditions pregnancy labor and delivery can be done in this way so as to safe both mother and baby. The process of caesarean section is simple and takes not more than 45-50 minutes. Once the delivery is done, then the process of repairing of womb and abdominal muscles takes place. Usually, a small horizontal scar remains below the bikini line which prevents disfigurement.
The women are expected to stay in the hospital for 3-4 days after the pregnancy birth. The process of recovery is slower and much painful than that of vaginal birth. Further, the complete recovery may take few weeks or few months. Many times, women are not told about the complications and other painful factors. And the women think it to be a simple and quick resolution at this labor stage in pregnancy.
Getting through caesarean is not an easy. Not all women are told before about the risks and complications involved in the process. And they go through the process considering it to be an easy and quick solution. A woman can go through more than one caesarean section but more than two are not considered safe for every woman.
There are many ways through which women can have quick recovery after labor and delivery. Walking is among those ways which can speed up the recovery process. Although it might be painful at initial stage but it prevents stiffness around the incision area. After getting discharged from the hospital, you can resume your daily activities like vacuuming, cleaning, cooking, etc. but only after waiting for 2-4 weeks. So after that duration you can perform any activity which requires stretching or bending. To conclude, caesarean section may give some pain or discomfort but is also a quick and easy way of delivery.
