At the closing, the purchaser signs an IOU with the lender Company. Notary Publics who have a license as required by law in the State of Iowa should be appointed to witness and authenticate the documents at the closure. Notary Publics are issued a license renewable every three years and only a notary public with a valid license can authenticate documents. However, in the State Of Iowa Notary Publics can only acknowledge and verify signatures. Notary Publics in the State of Iowa cannot give legal advice or accept fees for legal advice rendered. They do not function as Attorneys.
The purchaser is required to show proof of a one year home owner’s insurance premium payment and a proof of identity at the closure. When the deed is signed by both parties and the notary public attests the signatures, the Purchase transaction of a home in the State of Iowa is complete.
