As embarrassing as it is, even the mildest case of scalp itchiness and flaky dry skin called dandruff is an awful experience to have. With dandruff flakes, they may sometimes be visible in your hair if bad enough, but the worst is when the flakes of skin fall onto your clothes, being very visible to others, all on your shoulders and arms of your clothing.

Scientifically known as pityriasis capitis, dandruff is caused by a fungus in and on your scalp surface . This fungus is technically known to doctors as Pityrosporum Ovale or Malassezia Furfur. It is the fungi that creates scalp dryness to cause the scalps dry skin like flakiness. Although the scalp normally has a slight amount of skin flakiness due to skin cell regeneration, just as the rest of body's skin does, but that is a very subtle type of flaking and will not be noticeable as true dandruff is.

Absolutely no one of what ever race or age is immune to experiencing dandruff if they are not practicing the proper way of scalp care. It is now known that there are three various factors to cause a true case of dandruff. The first is the natural oil of Sebaceous, already normally in our skin but if there is too much, it is one culprit to contribute to bouts of dandruff. Second would be the fungus described earlier and then the internal and external workings of our bodies; due to when we are not taking care of ourselves or the chemical products we use upon our scalps improperly or just are not good for our scalp's moister.

The internal reasons are sometimes the hormonal imbalances that we all experience from time to time. A woman may experience bouts of dandruff during her menstruation, for the reason of too much scalp oil production during those few days. Several other internal factors are a lack of rest, emotional stress and improper hygiene care. The external uses of excessive gels and many other sculpting products will contribute to dandruff, along with improper hair rinsing of shampoos and conditioners. Dandruff is too more common with excessive cold weather and indoor heating, because both extremes cause very dry hair and dry out the scalp.

Treatment of dandruff is usually not very difficult. First start with choosing the right shampoo for your type of hair needs. Choosing good dandruff removal shampoos and using properly almost always rids dandruff and dandruff causing fungi. Second, you must also make sure to take measures in personal care, from proper rest to keeping your hair moist. If dandruff persists, then a dermatologist would be the next step for proper treatment.
