Australia has been enjoying the status of being among the top countries of destinations where many foreign students are coming to enrol. That is because major universities in the country are of the highest standard and are very popular in their own niche. Australia is also known to have a national government that is so supportive not just to Australian students but also to international students who are studying at its universities.

However, foreign students from Zimbabwe must be warned beforehand that they will have a hard time entering Australia as students. That is because the Australian federal government is bent not to cradle and take care of students that have direct ascendancy or relations to Zimbabwe's government. Canberra has been firm on its decision not to allow the families and children of any Zimbabwe government official into the country because of security reasons.

The country said it is screening very carefully all the current and future student visa applications coming from Zimbabweans. The action has been Australia's reaction and response to the anti-democratic and human rights violating policies imposed by the Zimbabwean government. The Australian government said the action could be its little way to help pressure Zimbabwe to reform and regard human rights as a matter of utmost importance.

Foreign students from other African countries should not worry. Other international students from Zimbabwe are very much welcome to come to Australia and enrol at major local universities, provided they are not related to Zimbabwean government officials. In the past, many Zimbabwean students have been studying at major Australian universities in aim to get the best global education, which they can impart to other students in their homeland. Australia has been very willing to share its education resources with Zimbabwe until the troubles erupted involving the Zimbabwean government.
