The importance of gaining Media Publicity cannot be overemphasized. Article marketing is no doubt a great way to generate lots of free traffic and to increase search engine rankings. However, statistics shows that only a minority is using this Internet no 1 marketing method especially to gain media attention. Simply put press releases are articles written for the press and for media publicity. Imagine if your article is featured in wall street journal or by over a hundred publications! Despite this great opportunity, many people shy away from using press release to promote their business or company. A recent survey shows that they don’t know what they can write about. It is interesting to know that editors want to know what is happening in your business even if you are promoting another business as an affiliate. However, not all articles will ever get picked by editors. For your article to get picked it must be newsworthy. Below are some tips that will make your article newsworthy.

· Explain how your event affects other people, customers, companies, local area, nation, or the world. Use the press release to explain how your company’s new service is reacting to or on the forefront of an overall industry trend.

· Are there newsworthy people involved in your company’s event? Does your new book release address a recent political event? Can you provide a fresh look at a newsworthy topic?

· Are you promoting or advocating for a cause? Do you contribute a percentage of the profits to a charity? Does your company sponsor a fundraising event? How will this new executive effect the bottom-line for stockholders? Did the merger, restructuring, or consultant streamline your company resulting in a higher profit margin? After you must have developed a newsworthy press release, the next step is to submit your article to press release directories. You should be ready to receive calls from different editors who want to feature your article.

Apart from media attention, a keyword rich article will increase your search engine rankings. Article directories are sites that store articles for individuals and for media publicity. Your aim should not be just to write article but to write informative and keywords rich articles. Otherwise your article will never gain media attention.
