Typically the reason we choose to become home based business entrepreneur is based on something we want for ourselves. We may want to be our own boss, or want to bring our spouse home from a job that has them traveling all the time. It could be that you recognize that it's only thru owning your own business that you can achieve true financial independence.
There are a million other valid reasons as well. The real question is whether those reasons are going to provide the drive that gets us to the end result we want.
The trick to generating significant success has two parts: Having a 'Big (enough) Reason Why' you want to be a home based business entrepreneur for consistent motivation. Direct that motivating force towards others in order to help as many of them get what it is they want. That's right; the more we help others get what they want to sooner and bigger our own success will be.
This is especially true in a world that is too busy, too orientated on short-term results, and way too self centered. The great news is; by adopting this mindset as a principal strategy in your work from home business you will rise above the noise.
Being of service to others is not about groveling at your customer's feet – far from it. In fact, another principal I advise you to adopt is one of revering yourself. That's right; you need to honor your own time and expertise and refuse to invest with anything less than your ideal type of customer.
As we have discussed in previous articles; your ideal prospect is the person that wants or needs what you're offering – and needs it now.
Far too many of us latch onto a prospect and chase them, twist their arms, beg for appointment to see them, etc., etc. We've all been there and it stinks..
Truth be known, it also just doesn't work! When you have a product or service forced down your throat how do you feel? Resentful? Taken advantage of? Angry? All of the above? Sure – we all feel that way – even YOUR prospects.
Here's the other side of the coin. How do you feel when you’re actively looking for something, or to solve a problem or fill a need, and we encounter a person who guides us with a confident authority into choosing what really suits our needs?
I went shopping for a Tux a couple of years ago and experienced exactly that. I walked into the store thinking I knew something about clothes. The salesman, an old guy by my standards, approached and initially I rebuffed him thinking I knew more than he did. That was a knee-jerk reflex many of us now have from past negative experiences with pushy salespeople.
Anyway, long story short the man really knew his stuff and soon had my respect as he guided me thru the materials, style, fit etc.
When he was finished with me I was happy to give him my money. That's because thanks to him I knew it was the right Tux for me. The salesman had provided real value in helping me.
So the ongoing questions for the home based business entrepreneur are these: How can I provide real value to my customer up front? How can I provide ongoing education, guidance, leadership to my prospects and clients? How can I provide a level of service to them so that they see me as a Trusted Advisor rather than a pesky marketer, or salesperson?
