Have you ever wondered why in a trade show, the booth next to yours is clustered with interested people while yours only receives a few nonchalant glances? Here are 5 great tips to help you in your trade shows so that next time, your booth will be the one with a clustered crowd.
1. Have an attractive display Sometimes, seeing is truly believing. If people do not see an attracting visual, a thought of interest will not cross their mind. Since every booth in a trade show is there for the same purpose, it is a given that most booths will already have an attractive, if not grand, display. This is why your display must be as grand and eye-grabbing as possible. Usually, pop-up displays work best since they are portable, light-weight, and attracts a lot of attention. Of course, adding in a few more banner stands will also be beneficial.
2. Dress in Bright Clothing Not only does your booth need to be attractive, you as the presenter must also be eye-catching. Dressing in bright clothing is a good way to attract people’s attention. Don’t dress in dull colors such as black or grey; these colors are easy to overlook. Keep in mind that you are not only presenting your products or services but also yourself. You as the representative are also "part of the package".
3. Have initiative Don’t wait for people to come to your booth; you should be the one who goes to them. Initiate conversation. Start out by asking how they are doing. Don’t always jump to your product or services. You should let your potential customers and clients feel that you care about them and their needs. Initiating an interesting conversation creates a great connection and will increase your chances of drawing more customers.
4. Be Confident Be prepared and confident. Know your products and services well and be ready to answer questions. There is nothing more disappointing than to leave interested customers’ questions unanswered. Practice speaking in front of a mirror or a friend. Speaking fluently is the key to appear confident.
5. Do not be a nuisance Of course, you must be confident and have initiative, but DO NOT go overboard. If people do appear interested in conversing with you, then go on to another person. If you are over-persistent, you may drive away potential customers. Do not speak too much. Let your customers digest your information. If you ramble on and on, no only will people miss important information, they may also find you annoying.
