It can be a tough job locating and troubleshooting faults on today's high tech, complex vehicles and equipment. Fast paced maintenance schedules often allow little time to find problem areas, and when compounded with low-light areas in confined spaces, technicians can end up feeling stressed out by the end of the day. A new stress-reducing tool has been introduced into the repair and maintenance market that should make the mechanic's job a lot easier.

Maxxeon has announced that the company has achieved a light output in excess of 90 lumens for the new WorkStar 440 inspection light, a figure that is claimed to set a new standard in the portable work light market. Roger Britt, CTO of Maxxeon explains,"Through the use of state-of-the-art LEDs and our electronic current control system, the WorkStar™ 440 produces an exceptional amount of light - more light than even bulky LED work lights, while maintaining a compact configuration suitable to the use of an inspection light in confined areas. The WorkStar™ 440 raises the bar by supplying the technician with up to 20 times the amount of light that is available from previous tools".

Mr. Britt continues,"The exceptional light output of this tool makes it far easier to troubleshoot and inspect in critical areas such as aircraft maintenance. Quality Assurance and IT technicians will especially appreciate the brightness and versatility of this light."

The innovative lighting tool features a PVC coated, highly flexible 12 inch gooseneck that allows the user to direct the light exactly where it is needed, thereby solving illumination problems common to all maintenance, repair, and quality control technicians. The compact, tapered lighting head has been designed to prevent snagging when removing it from confined spaces. The tool is designed to perform reliably for tradesmen for daily use.

The WorkStar™ 440 is a cordless light with electronic current control that maximizes efficiency and allows it to runs for approximately 2 hours on two AA batteries. Body construction is aluminum and the tool is light in weight at less than 6 ounces (160 grams). The light weight, and ergonomic design features a comfortable grip and good balance to minimizes operator fatigue.

I have used this lighting tool and can vouch for its brightness and its all-around excellent versatility. It appears rugged enough to last many years, and I look forward to using this light for a long time to come.
