At the best of times window cleaning is not a firm favorite of many people. The job can be tedious not to mention back breaking and sometimes even unrewarding if you’re inundated by freak storms which pretty do away with all your hard work.

The problem however, that you get with unclean and murky windows is that your entire home could be cast into pall and gloom without your even realizing it. You need to take the initiative right now and have a good day of window cleaning to help clear away the cobwebs (literally) from the corners.

That’s right, window cleaning involves not cleaning your windows but also cleaning the area in and around your windows. This can sometimes mean your having to battle your way through a hundred thousand cobwebs and other insects but the end result will definitely be well worth the effort.

Of course, if you can’t be bothered to do the window cleaning yourself, you might want to look into the little matter of hiring the services of professional window cleaners who will do the entire job for you, even dealing with the spiders on the windows. This is also a good option if you have high windows which otherwise can only be reached with great difficulty by you.

If on the other hand all of your windows are readily reachable (even if it is with the aid of a ladder) you might be able to get a crew of teenagers on summer break to get the job done for you.

If you’re choosing this option or even if you’re going to do the window cleaning by yourself, there are a few things that you will need. And top of the list is most definitely a ladder, because even on the ground floor the top of the windows will reach a height that is not readily accessible to you from the ground.

You will also want such things as buckets, cleaning rags, and window cleaning detergent. This is the old method of window cleaning. If you’re doing it the old, old fashioned way however, you will need old newspapers, a bucket, a clean rag, and some vinegar.

This is the method of window cleaning that our parents and grandparents used and it is should be mentioned that it worked admirably well. Sure you needed a little elbow grease to get the job done, but there’s no denying that your windows came out all sparkling and shiny, looking like new in fact.

The newer methods require none of these. Only a window squeegee preferably with a telescoping arm, and some good old fashioned window cleaning detergent, preferably with a spray nozzle bottle!

Of these methods though, comparatively speaking of course, you would be most surprised to find the number of people who prefer the vinegar and newspaper method even these days of convenience. It is truly astonishing and indeed gratifying to see that some things are still best handled the old fashioned way, even window cleaning.
