Wedding Photography with a Canon IXUS

The wedding day is probably the top memory for people to try and keep alive; digital wedding photography is instant and this is why some people consider the wedding photographer almost as important as the person performing the wedding ceremony. There is no reason why a DVD can't be made of the occasion to complement to photos!

Fortunately for wedding photographers they can use an assistant to help them get the right shots but if you're a friend taking pictures, then how do you take good shots of the day? Here are some tips if you find yourself at a friend or relations wedding taking photos with your Canon ixus 75 Digital Camera.

Most importantly try to ensure you don't have poor background scenery and that there aren't too many people in the shot. Often when there is a good background there are just too many people in the shot, so if this is the situation, just try and capture a nice head and shoulders shot of the couple.

If some of the guests are wearing glasses, they can be asked to stand with their heads a little down or sideways to avoid the glare effect from spectacles that normally appears when a flash is used. To avoid people in the shot coming out dark when the sunlight is behind them, unless you know what you are doing, move them so the sun is behind you.

Candid shots are also dramatic and these portraits often reveal more than the quality of the picture itself; in fact, many professionals use the zoom to capture intimate and memorable moments. Allays be ready for the next digital wedding photograph because you can't ask people to repeat those unforgettable moments that everybody wants to see again and again.

The last thing you want to happen is for your digital camera to have half charged batteries and a memory card that is already half full as it will restrict how many shots you can take. As a general rule, if your camera is a 6 mega pixel resolution then you will need a large storage capacity card that will hold a few hundred shots at high resolution so a 1 gigabyte card should be sufficient.

If you intend to have the pictures blown up to a large size you will need to ensure your cameras resolution is set to maximum. To ensure your pictures are safe and ready to print, save them as soon as possible to your computer's hard drive and create a CD you can present to the couple.

One of the biggest advantages of digital wedding photography is the ease with which the images can be viewed on anything from a computer monitor to a large flat screen TV.
