The last few decades our world changed dramatically. Technology really came to the forefront and nowadays almost everyone is in some way connected via technological changes. The internet really changed the world and one of the big opportunities that came with the impact of the internet is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing, also called online marketing, is nothing new having started in the early 1990. For years the real opportunity of online marketing was not always realized, but things has really changed the last few years.

So, how does it work?

Online marketing works via an agreement between the merchant (the one selling the product or service) and the online marketer (affiliate marketer). Online marketers advertise the product or service of the merchant via various methods (web pages, Pay Per Click Advertising, email advertising etc.). Customers click on a special link that has an ID embedded to the merchants website. For every successful sale via the special link, the merchant will pay the online marketer a certain amount or percentage of the sale. In some way it is a win-win situation. The merchant only pays for successful sales (after he made his profit) and the marketer gets paid simply by promoting a product or service.

It is actually extremely simple and easy to learn the basics. It does require some hard work, as does any business, but the earning potential is quite great. Some has become millionaires and do this as a full time job. How much will you make? It depends: It is an extremely satisfying experience making $5000 a month simply advertising products. I do not make this much every month (hopefully I will some day) but it was my best month during my first year of online marketing.
