You will never score a goal in any sport without focus. Your opponents would easily take away the ball from you. To be a great athlete, rigorous training is needed. It is difficult, but it is your decision to be excellent in athletics.
You cannot overcome compulsive behavior without a plan, and being determined to reach that goal. You have to be encouraged, determined, and focused. Set realistic goals.
It is not your opponents that will weaken your desire to overcome compulsion. Be wary of temptation. Concentrate on your resolve. Do not allow temptations to drift into your subconscious be firm and drive them out, these will cripple your resolve. When you are tempted, be steadfast. Be warned when temptations occur, accept it but refuse to give in. When friends tempt you, be stubborn. Refuse to eat junk food and you will triumph. Praise yourself when you succeed.
It is earnest to refuse that there is nothing more to do. Persistently refusing to do something has influence. It is outright refusal that makes decisions firm.
Being intent is to be fixed on something Be like an athlete ready for the battle. Be focused on your goal. Do not be preoccupied. Just as an archer aims for the bull's eye, he is intent to hit the target. After he has released his arrow, he rests and prepares to fire again. The focus is exhausting. Stay focused. Emulate the athlete. Set the goal and become absorbed on it everyday, especially just before you eat or face temptation. When it is done, take it easy and prepare for the next target. The mind can be persistent, and you will often find that it was all in vain, without being aware until it's too late. This happens to us all. It can give you a thrust in your resolve to be more vigilant.
Fixed decisions end mental wars. Weak decisions are meaningless. There will be times you will compromise and feel you failed. Be firm. If you have decided to finish a bowl of food per meal, decide to be hungry before eating. Stick to your decision! "I am not being shoved anymore. I refuse to be controlled by food. I am immovable. My decision is unchangeable. I am not giving in." The mental war ends.
You are firm to be successful. Daily you review the reasons to reinforce the importance of your original decisions. The moment you weaken in your decision, the war begins. Be firm with your decision for you to succeed.
Compulsion is a recurring pattern. Emotions confuse when pain comes in: insecurity, anxiety, fear, feeling empty and deprived. These emotional upheavals will not exist if you are firm.
