Yeah, yeah. I know. There has been a lot of hype AGAINST bottled water. Why do people keep drinking bottled water? Studies from the National Resources Defense Council break it down like this:
1. Taste = 7%
2. Something other than soft drinks = 35%
3. Worried about tap water safety= 35%
4. Combined above 2 & 3 = 12%
5. Other = 11%
As for me? I fall under the "other" category. Why? I drink it because it’s convenient. I spend lots of time at sports parks. It’s much more simple to throw a bottle of water into a sports bag than it is to
1. Carry an empty glass
2. Carry a full glass and have it spill
3. Carry a hose
Can’t a lot of us relate to that? If not the sports park, think of the gym. Ever see anyone in there with a glass of water? Of course not!
Did you know that we bottled water drinkers~even if you fall into the 11% category, are not alone? Studies show that even with all of the research showing tap water showing up in the bottles, and ecologists on the band wagon for ecological purposes, fifty-four percent (54%) of Americans drink bottled water.
Speaking of all of the news about tap water in the bottles, not all hope is lost. The news isn’t entirely wrong. There are several companies that have admitted that their water is nothing more than tap water. The good news is, that we are not being snowed by all bottled water companies. There are plenty of honest ones out there with good, pure water. You can check out the source of the water by calling the numbers provided on the bottles. If you check out the FDA website, you can find the "standards of identity" when it comes to bottled water. It will tell you just what you are buying, and what you should look for.
No matter how you look at it, bottled water is completely here to stay. It has become an American way of life. It is convenient to use and carry, better for you than soda or other sugared-down products. And the best part? You can literally find it ANYWHERE.
You can buy it with flavor added, bubbles added, or plain. You can buy it in several sizes, for any occasion. What’s not to love about it?
