Satisfaction guaranteed

I bought many eBooks in my life. Almost all of them came with "satisfaction guarantee". If I am not satisfied about the eBook, I'll get the money back. That phrase should have given me an incentive to buy, and it did, but I regretted many times that I followed it.

One of the most important factors of a successful business is trust. How can I trust you, if I have no idea who are you in the first place? Did you notice that many sites that sell eBooks don't have contact info? While some are owned by respectful and trusted marketers, some are there just to make a quick sale, to cash the money and to disappear.

My first times when I bought something online, I didn't know the difference between a verified PayPal seller and an unverified one. Buying from verified seller increases the chances of the refund, in case something goes wrong.

Let's say I want to sell you an eBook, for $10. I offer your money back if, within the first 30 days, you're not satisfied with the information from the eBook. Who guarantees that I'll keep my word? Who guarantees the guarantee? The honest answer is "nobody". You have no 100% certain way to be positive I'll give your money back.

I believe that the best way to see if I can be trusted is to contact me somehow, before buying from me. If a seller is not kind and fast when answering your question before the sale, there are slim chances (s)he'll answer you after the sale. I'll answer all eMails within 2 business days, some of them even faster, depending on the subject. What if you write me an eMail, wait 3 business days and you don't receive an answer? It's possible that I didn't get your eMail, for a number of reasons, number one being spam barriers. I have a forum, which you are welcome to join free. All the messages you post arrive to me. I can see them for sure, and you will know for sure that I saw them. If I'll not answer, you have the right to become suspicious.

I have a verified PayPal account and a physical address. If, during the first 30 days, you want a refund and I don't send you the money, you can escalate the issue to PayPal. They'll take the money from my account and give it to you, according to the guarantee which is on the digital product (eBook) you receive. It will take, in the worst scenario, about 1 week more to get your money back, no matter if you trust me or not. PayPal will be in your favor, because of the agreement. PayPal will refund your money, because I am verified and it can take money from my account.

If you have plan B, for the worst scenario, then the plan A - "What if I try the eBook with no risk" becomes a safe one.

Being myself a skeptical person, and because I've been burnt several times, I understand very well the hesitation when reading about "anonymous" guarantees. The only suggestion I would like to make is to contact the seller before buying. Ask even for a chat. You'll be surprised how much a chat can build confidence.

I want to ask you a question. What is the guarantee that you really trust? What proof would you require in advance to be sure that you'll get your money back, as promised?
