Have you ever felt the high stress from being unorganized? Do you feel like your being pulled in 100 different directions?

How would you like to be in total control of your business or workday? And what would it mean to you to quickly organize a business plan? Or a personal project?

I'm going to let you in on a secret exercise that helps me get more productive and organized instantly. You can too.

It's called mind mapping.

What is Mind Mapping You might already know what mind mapping is. Mind mapping lets you visually see how each section of an idea, or task relates to each other. How to organize an idea. When to complete what part.

If you have school age children, you may have already heard of the concept. I learned about it when my children were in second or third grade. They were using it to help organize their thoughts for writing. It did help them. But at the time, I really could not see how it could be valuable for other purposes as well.

But then I started a website. I was having a hard time deciding what to put where and when. Until I had a conversation with a friend who told me how much mind mapping had helped her...

Any Project You can use it for anything. I've used it for writing down goals. This website. Every project that I do. With or without time lines. You can use it for personal goals. Business goals. Spiritual goals.

Mind Mapping Tools I've listed three options for you to choose from. Decide which one works best for you.

The first option you might want to consider is a free mind mapping tool that I found at http://www.mindmeister.com. They also have great examples of maps you might find useful.

The next option is to make up a template using Excel or http://www.openoffice.org. Open Office is very similar to Excel. You can download the software for free. Setting up a goal in each column.

The last option is to use a WordPad or Notepad program. Here's an example:

Personal Goals:

vacation

family night

date night

chores

Health:

exercise

drink more water

vitamins

healthy choices

Business:

website

newsletter

You'll find it helpful in planning and acting on your goals. Both short and long term. Making your life much easier. More productive. Organized. Providing direction. Making it clear for what needs to be done and when.
