Have you ever thought about what is the missing link between your desire for a successful business and the achievement of this goal? As you are aware these are two different things in practice and reality. Are you working long hours with very little evidence of success. No doubt you have attended conferences, training courses, read several books, spent hours on the internet, listened to CDs and watched DVDs’ about becoming successful. After that what happened? Did your business profits increase? Did your business change profoundly? Did you acquire a substantial number of new customers? For most businesses all that happened was that they received a short burst of energy and then returned to the status quo.

The reason as to why nothing changed is simple. It all comes down to the subconscious programming we all received when we were growing up. Once you start to understand this you can start to explore the root causes of why success often seems to evade some people. You will also begin to realise how childhood influences lead to self defeating thoughts that continue to shape your behavior and ability act in ways that support your desire to be successful in business. The good news is that these thoughts can be changed or replaced with a more supportive thought pattern.

It is simple but true that successful business people think differently to their less successful business counterparts. Thinking determines actions and actions determine results. What is your business thinking like? It is not what you do not know that often prevents business success. In reality it is old ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour which often stand in the way of growing a successful business. Do you know where your business is heading; do you like what you see?

The lesson is easy. If you want your business to move to a higher level of profitability and growth then you have to be willing to let go of some of your old ways of thinking and being and adopt new ones. The first step is to surround yourself with successful business people. People who are enthusiastic about business, who are ahead of you. Secondly you will need to adopt new ways of thinking that move you towards your business goals. Try a new behavior that supports your business goals for a month. The results will eventually speak for themselves.

Finally I leave you with this thought. If you desire to change the fruit of the tree you will first have to excavate the roots and plant new seeds or roots. If you desire to change the visible you will first have to change the invisible. The power lies within you.
