Rule of Thumb: It general, this type of website monetization can be distractive to the user when scrolling through the text. However, it still acts as a valuable referral tool to other sites and products.

How it Works: This is a widely used approach that enables companies to advertise through pop-ups or pop-unders. Rule of Thumb: Depending solely on donations could limit income generation, although implementing too many income-generating activities to the site in addition to "donation" is not recommended. Donation does, however, acts as a great incentive for you to continue to provide great content to the readers.
