As you sit there and begin the last subchapter of this book, you may be wondering after all this talk of personal development and success - how can I grow and develop into the person I want to be, in order to spend my working time on my life purpose, and have the things I want?
Recently, many people have begun to realize that they can create wealth by using personal development as a business opportunity.
Years ago, the idea of "starting a home business" was not one that was widely accepted. It was "risky" and, while not frowned upon, it definitely wasn’t something the average person considered a viable option. The attitude for most people was that success meant a comfortable job that offered long-term security. You worked hard all your life for someone else, provided for your family, and then retired. Although there is nothing wrong with this mode of thinking, to say that most people have this view in 2008 would be wrong. As we have seen, corporate America has drastically changed. It no longer provides the security people came to depend on.
More and more people today understand that owning their own home business to create wealth is what enables them to live the life they’ve always dreamed about.
More than ever people are discovering their entrepreneurial spirit, and it’s a number that is constantly growing. Perhaps you have been dreaming for years about starting your own business, and living a life of freedom, filled with choices?
People don’t want to be "stuck" in one job any longer. They want an opportunity to learn and to grow. Folks want fulfillment and freedom. They want a life that lifts them up instead of making them feel chained. Most of all they want a lifestyle that accommodates their family's needs and their desires.
You have probably heard from others that one of the advantages to owning your own business is the fact that you’re your own boss. There’s no one looking over your shoulder and no one telling you what to do. Gone are the "office politics" and trying to "impress the boss". You have the freedom to make decisions based on what you think is right.
When you’re the boss you’ve definitely got a completely different life than working for corporate America. Be careful, however. This lifestyle is extremely addicting, and you’ll be loath to ever go back to regular hours once you’ve had a taste!
And as one works their business, the increased self-confidence that comes along with that responsibility is amazing. Until you’re in charge and calling the shots you can’t even imagine what it will do for your self esteem. It’s definitely empowering to be out on your own.
You can also take time off when you want to do things that are good for you or spend the day with your family. Many people feel the urge to go into business for themselves because they’re looking for more flexibility in their life. The rigid life of 9-5 takes a toll, and especially once a woman has children those hours become even more unbearable.
