The internet has risen in popularity at a level that many people didn’t think was possible over the last five years or so. This has lead to many advertisers reconsider their spending budgets to incorporate a much heavier amount of online advertising. With this in mind, the fact that so many recruitment companies spent so much money at advertising their recruitment vacancies in paper format really surprises me. This is party due to the perception that still exists regarding the standard of candidate that will always look at the paper advertising, but not look online. But in reality, who doesn’t look online for jobs these days?

Online advertising has really changed the way people advertise their latest recruitment vacancies. Before the growth of online advertising many companies would spend literally thousands of pounds each week advertising vacancies in the local and national newspapers. However this has now changed with there being so many viable online alternatives available which charge a very small amount when compared to the old methods of advertising. This has levelled up the playing field somewhat and has allowed small companies to compete with the much more established ones.

There are two different types of jobs boards online for you to post your recruitment vacancies on. The first type of jobs board is the more general, larger jobs board that hosts many different vacancies across many different industries. These types of jobs board are likely to be well known and are heavily branded and marketed. The second type of jobs board is of a smaller and more niche specific nature. These will lack the commercialism of the bigger jobs boards, but will cater for those in a particular area.

When you are choosing different websites to advertise your vacancies on, you need to take some time to think and decide which websites can be the best for you. Really, you shouldn’t let yourself be impressed with traffic figures alone, as this does not necessarily lead to success when it comes to find candidates for vacancies. Instead you could try and contact some companies that are advertising on the website and find out what level of success they have achieved from it. It may take you a few attempts to find the right website for you, but the wait can definitely be worth it!
