Home Business prospecting for Entrepreneurs could become much more effective by applying Oprah Winfrey's new internet web-casts based on Eckhart Tolle’s book, ‘A New Earth’.

Prospecting is a skill new Home Business Entrepreneurs struggle with more than any other. All businesses require customers to survive. To acquire customers (and ‘team members’ in Network Marketing) people need to be exposed to your business. It’s just common sense, but it doesn’t make the process any easier for a person not used to picking up the phone to generate business.

Oprah's internet show with Eckhart offers some wonderful insights that we can apply to helping people who struggle with home business prospecting. The first two ‘A New Earth’ episodes revolved around the human ego and its characteristics. Eckhart teaches that the ego acts like a spoiled little child in many respects. It generates a non-stop conversation in our heads. This chatter is all about ‘identifying’, judging; labeling and then 'pigeon-holing' the avalanche of information and situations we experience each and every day.

The problem with this is that we are so busy in our thoughts that we rarely fully experience what is right in front of us at that moment. If we are in the shower - our minds are thinking about breakfast, if we are eating breakfast - our minds are already thinking about work, if we are working - we are already thinking about the weekend, etc, etc. The ego is apparently an expert at keeping us engaged with either the Future or the Past - anything but the Present Moment. Since the present moment is the only moment we actually have – we are missing actually living our life!

Being truly present in this 'Now' has huge benefits as explained by Oprah and Eckhart Tolle. It provides a richness and depth that turns a mundane world into one of Technicolor. Our relationships blossom because we are actually with the person 'in the moment' so the level of communication soars. We all know when we are really concentrating on something how much more effective we are. Imagine being that way with the majority of the things we do rather than just rarely… Eckhart's book, 'A New Earth' also shows us that our ego's are also constantly reducing our self image down to a fraction of its true magnificence. It does that by forming an 'Identity' to which we end up believing is the 'whole' truth.

Eckhart offered an example of some people in Japan who when fired from their job actually committed suicide because their ‘identity’ was so attached to their job. Without their job they had lost their identity! Most of us may recognize that level of association to ‘identity’ is silly; but we are likely to be almost as guilty in other areas of our own lives. The fact is the identity we adopt is not really who we are. In fact it is VERY small representation of our Being. Even ‘important’ labels such as Mother, Husband, Soldier, Doctor, etc.; actually do us a disservice if we limit ourselves only to the parameters those labels imply.
