Central vacuum cleaners are different from standard vacuums in that they are installed into a home much like central heating. Central vacuum systems remove the dirt from the home and send it through tubes that are installed in the walls to a receptacle in an out of the way location like a garage or a basement. With these systems all that is carried is a lightweight hose and a power brush instead of moving a large vacuum unit from room to room.

Vacuuming will always be convenient with a central vacuum system because the power unit is permanent. To start vacuuming with a central vacuum, one just plugs the hose into one of the handy inlets installed in various places throughout the home. The power button is located on the handle on a power brush. For even more added convenience, an optional automatic dustpan can also be installed into a home with a central vacuuming system. The central vacuum system's automatic dustpan allows debris to be quickly swept into a wall vent using a broom. The fine dust particles aren't released back into the living spaces because they are sucked back to the remote receptacle.

There are two types of central vacuum systems. They are:

• Filtered: these use a variety of filters to clean the air taken in by the vacuum. The filters will still need to be cleaned and replaced.

• Cyclonic: these use centrifugal tornado-like force and gravity to separate the impurities from the air being taken in by the vacuum and deposits the dirt into a canister.

There are two easy ways to dispose of the dust and debris that ends up in the receptacle in the central location with a central vacuum system. One way is to use a disposable bag. After it is full it just needs to be tossed into the garbage. The other way is to use a canister. After the canister has reached its limit, it simply needs to be dumped and cleaned. With both ways the debris needs to be disposed of much less often than with a portable vacuum cleaner. They only need to be emptied an average of once every three months with a central vacuum system.

Central vacuum systems make your home value go up because it is so valuable and convenient. They also prolong the life of carpet, drapes and furniture because it cleans so deeply. They are also often more powerful than standard vacuums because of the remote location of the motor and collector. They also have a larger capacity and because the motor is in that remote location, the central vacuum system is less noisy than a standard vacuum as well.
