So you have decided to sell your house and to buy not a town home, but a condo. Perhaps you are an empty nester, with you and your spouse a little lonely in a big house, with the kids all moved out and/or in college or university. Perhaps you never had kids and/or a spouse, and the maintenance and upkeep on the house is just getting to be a bit much, especially if you are older and/or heading into the retirement years.
For whatever reason, you are downsizing your lifestyle, making it easier to go south for the winter and return in the middle of a snowstorm, but not have to worry about shoveling snow.
Now that you have decided to buy a condo but still want to stay in Canada, where do you want to buy it? Where do you purchase your condos Canada? If you want to buy a condo in a larger, settled area or an established city, it probably has a lot of do with where you are currently living. People buying a condo out west would consider such big cities as Victoria, Vancouver and Calgary. People buying a condo in Quebec might look at Quebec City or Montreal.
If you are in Ontario, the natural choices would be downtown condos Toronto or downtown condominiums Toronto. Most people in Ontario seem to be convinced that Toronto is the cultural, commercial and political centre of the universe there, with all due respect to Ottawa. They might even think that Toronto is the prime tourist destination, but the people in Niagara Falls might have a say about that.
If you thinking about buying either luxury condos Toronto or affordable condos GTA, then there are several factors you have to consider. First, you will be paying relatively more, perhaps a lot more, if you decide to buy in the Toronto area. Cities like Windsor, London and Ottawa will invariably be priced cheaper.
Another factor to consider is size. Chances are that the condo you buy in Toronto is going to cost you more money per square foot than it would in other cities; since people usually have stringent budgets, you may opt to buy a less expensive unit, which usually means less living space. You have to come to terms with the fact that you will not have the same room you enjoyed while living in a house.
If you purchase a condo in Toronto, then you have better access to transit, shops and stores, restaurants, entertainment and sporting events, holiday parades and all sorts of interesting attractions. You might even be able to see the Air Canada Centre, Sky Dome or CN Tower form your living room window.
If you purchase a condo in Toronto, however, there may be some disadvantages. You will be exposed to more traffic around your area, as well as increased air pollution and crime and vandalism. It is generally accepted that things are not as safe in the downtown area as they are in the suburbs.
