Here in Australia, we have had some really sad and ‘time to wake up’ television shows highlighting the fate of pensioners in this country. While I am not fully aware of the statistics of other countries, and I am in no way making judgments, the problem is very much a worldwide one. These pensioners are living proof that statistics showing the 65 year plan we have been sold - go to school, work hard in a job, retire at age 65 and enjoy retirement – does not work for 95% of the population. I regularly visit a couple of pensioners on my street and the stress they are under to make ends meet is very sad to see. The property market has blown out to the extent that pensioners, (and families for that matter), cannot find or afford to rent homes to live in, let alone buy or maintain their own home. These people are very stoical and hardly ever complain, but they enjoy a very limited lifestyle.
I see the fate of sole parents being forced to go out to work when their youngest child is 6 years old. I see these parents desperately trying to find jobs that fit in around school time, sports times, and any extra curricular events or needs that their children may have. Having been a sole parent myself since my youngest was 3 ½ years old, I have empathy for these people. I can also understand that study and finding a rewarding career, and balancing this with caring for a young family, can be exhausting and a very difficult choice to make. Hence, these people can be left behind in the work place with very limited choices, settling in many cases for whatever they can get for whatever they are paid. However, with a home based business we can choose the hours we work and can fit our work in around our families. What a blessing to find something like this, enabling us to take care of ourselves and our families again, while being able to enjoy the precious years of parenthood. We also don’t need any great amount of academic achievement; just a willingness to learn, the humility to be coached, and a desire to succeed.
Another sector of society that I regularly meet and talk with are working people who want to start a family, buy a home, or just ‘get ahead’. With a fixed income potential, they are finding it impossible to fulfill their dreams. Or there are the ones who have raised a family and are now working towards their retirement. All these people need to hear about, and seriously consider, starting a home based business. They can make money part time in their business, without giving up their full time job, have something to fall back on when they start a family, have mortgage repayments, etc and start to take care of themselves and their family again.
I know that I could be one of these statistics within the next 10 years if I remain on the same path I have traveled before. That is why I have chosen a home based business to make money to climb out of this hole as quickly as possible. I need to take care of myself. I am able to use tools such as internet marketing and 1 to 1 marketing - trends of the 21st century, to beat a 21st century problem. I cannot depend on anyone else to take care of me.
We should not rely on our governments to take care of us in the future, they have no answers. My hope is that they will take care of those who are already caught in the poverty trap and are unable to do anything to climb out of it. They can help the rest of us to help ourselves by creating economic environments that promote entrepreneurs and business growth.
My personal mission statement is: "To meet each person where they are at and offer them something that helps them get where they want to go".
So, wherever you are in your journey and whatever sector of society you fall in at the moment, God bless as you consider the choices you have available to you.
