Should you join every affiliate program online that you can find or just sign-up with a few to generate a residual income?

There are thousands of affiliate programs online that you can join. Which ones to join is the question? How can you narrow down your choices?

You can first take an approach, which is quite popular online, and join as many programs as you think possible. This ensures that at least some of them will pay off. At least that's the theory.

The other alternative is to join some leading affiliate programs in just a few areas and put more effort into each one. Do some affiliate research by reading as many articles on your focus subject as possible. This way you can narrow down your choices and make a decision that the programs you do choose are used by some of the leading experts in the field.

You will need a focus and find your own niche. Find a particular area that you are interested in.

With fewer products and services you are able to focus more energy and effort on the products and services that you have a genuine interest in. Because of your knowledge you may even be considered an expert in this particular area. It is easier to write articles and answer questions regarding the program that you sponsor because you will have a genuine interest in it.

Many affiliates doing just fine with their hundreds or even thousands of affiliate programs, but the market for the hap-hazard approach now appears to be cluttered. There are way to many sites online that do not have focus and promote everything under the sun.

This is where the informed person enter. Todays world the new breed of affiliate that focuses on particular products or services. By selecting only the best-selling, highest-paying commissions for that field you can devote your focus on one area. You can then target your affiliates with high level affiliate marketing techniques. There is now room for the specialist to succeed.

Target your affiliate programs and just choose a few that truly interest you and are appealing to the masses of people that will enter your site.

Concentrate all of your time into marketing these programs - because you are being so passionate about the product or service you are selling, you will drive more targeted traffic to your affiliate program which in turn will generate a strong residual income for you.
