Black hat marketing is becoming more and more popular with internet marketing. What is "Black Hat" marketing? 2 The internet is flooded with companies promising to fast track your Company to Top ranking on the leading search engines. They have developed a proven method to beat Google, Yahoo and other search engines at their own game. The fancy flash can also be irritating to the consumer, aren't the pulsating green things driving you crazy about now. The search engines can not spider or decipher the glitzy pages as well as they can the plain text websites with a few pictures. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" (" organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it "ranks", the more searchers will visit that site.4 Such services cost around $30.00 per month and are a total rip-off - because search engines nowadays can find any website on the Internet by themselves! Some design firms may also tell you that they will add some "keywords" to your website design code. Unfortunately, this is no longer as an important factor in gaining high natural search engine rankings as many others. In fact, there are approximately 100 factors that are used in evaluating a website design for relevance (note: a high relevance means a high rank). Although it's hard to believe, most website design companies know essentially " nothing" about "designing for search engine rank" (also called search engine optimization marketing) . They may design excellent websites, but if asked about search engine optimization, they will typically tell you that the most important thing to do for high rankings is to sign up with a website submission service.5 Cloaking is a black hat search engine optimisation (SEO) technique in which the content presented to the search engine spider is different from that presented to the users' browser. This is done by delivering content based on the IP addresses or the User-Agent HTTP header of the user requesting the page. When a user is identified as a search engine spider, a server- side script delivers a different version of the web page, one that contains content not present on the visible page. The purpose of cloaking is to deceive search engines so they display the page when it would not otherwise be displayed. An approach to SEO no longer widely used and no longer recommended due to search engine penalties. Doorway pages not connected to the remainder of the site and are optimized for a particular key phrase to entice site visitors and sometimes a specific search engine.6 The content on the web pages are usually not readable, but are loaded with relevant keywords that when the search engine bots spider your site, it reads it as relevant content to the given niche. Black hat marketers will also link several sites, pages and bloggs to each other and with the hundreds of links (all automated) point to a certain website, the search engines generally index these sites rather quickly. The top black hat marketers spend an average of 40 to 50 hours a week just maintaining and building sites. The search engines eventually catch up to these sites and once they do, the sites get shut down, so you' re constantly building new sites trying to stay a step ahead of the search engines. The content on your web pages should be original and never duplicated. Automating this process will wave a flag as far as the search engines are concerned.
