I have had the privilege and honor to spend a lot of time around people in the top 1% of all home business owners. These people have had incomes large enough to enjoy the lifestyle they wanted. They had replaced jobs with the "American Dream" of having a business that would pay them enough to not have to report to work every day of the year. Amazingly, all of these people have similar personality traits and attitudes that I believe contributed to their success in their home business.
The first thing I noticed is how successful home business owners are extremely humble and down to earth. I remember the first time I met a million dollar earner. My impression of the rich, based on what I had seen in my childhood, is that they put themselves on a pedestal above everyone. I was surprised when he was extremely kind and caring. We even had the chance to go to his house. Instead of an elaborate mansion, it was a house very below what he could afford. He and his wife graciously accepted us and talked with us about the home business we were involved with.
I have also noticed that successful home business people are not all great at sales. Yes, they have all been hugely successful in selling something, but they are not the type that could sell snow to Eskimos. These people have a lot of heart and compassion for their product and the people they work with. They are not always the best speakers but their positive attitude and personalities shine through their speech. While they may not be polished their message about their home business gets through.
Successful home business owners also have an authentic excitement about them. Many confuse this for charisma, but it is not. Instead it is an excitement about the lifestyle they have created for themselves and the people that have partnered with them. At my first home business convention I was a little shocked to see people standing on chairs, dancing to the music, and seeming to be a little "too" excited. I then saw these people walk across the stage and give their story about how their home business had changed their lives. I understood why they were excited about their home business and why they were dancing.
All of these people shared the same qualities. Their home business had allowed them to grow and be successful, sometimes overcoming perceived shortfalls. They had learned how to be humble in helping others succeed in their home business. They learned how to let their heart, passion, and personalities turn them into successes. Their success allowed them to experience an excitement and freedom as their lives were changed, as well as the lives of many around them.
