Many people enthusiastically endorse colloidal silver as being a psychopathic super killer of a massive array of pathogenic nasties; whilst others warn that all it will do is turn you blue (so that you look like something out of the X-Men)!

Who’s right?

Well actually, depending on circumstances, both can be.

Overuse of colloidal silver solution can lead to argyria, a very rare condition caused by silver particles collecting under the skin, reacting with sunlight and turning the skin blue in colour.

Apart from possibly making themselves the centre of attention all social gatherings, why do people take colloidal silver solution if it can turn you blue? Colloidal silver has the scientifically proven ability to effectively kill a very wide range of pathogenic bacteria, viruses, moulds and yeasts inside our bodies. Furthermore, the method by which it kills pathogens is something that the pathogen cannot mutate against unlike they can with many modern antibiotics. Some people affected by argyria have actually said that they would rather be blue than ill!

So what are the chances of ending up looking like an X-Men extra? To put things into perspective; we all need water to live, but too much will drown us. Most recent cases of argyria are due to consumption of home-made colloidal silver solutions and almost all of these cases in turn involved production techniques which are generally considered incorrect by today’s reputable colloidal silver solution manufactures. Home made colloidal silver solutions can typically range from 300 to 3,000 parts per million (ppm), whereas modern colloidal silver solutions with tiny nano-particles can be as low as just 14 ppm. At these low concentrations, being afflicted with argyria is not possible. Furthermore, the tiny nano-particles leave the body far more readily than do the relatively large particles from some home made versions.

What is not commonly realised is that it is actually particle size, rather than just high concentration alone that leads to argyria, as the larger particles get trapped under the skin.

Apart from sparing you from the blues (in more ways then one) modern colloidal silver solution is ironically a more effective pathogen killer then the home made high concentration colloidal silver solutions.

How?

Although the original patent for colloidal silver dates way back to 1924, modern refinements have lead to the reliable production of nano particles, small enough to enter a red blood cell and travel to any infection site anywhere in the body, without getting trapped within the body. Furthermore, a new patent registered in 2006 takes things further, enabling this new advanced colloidal silver to kill or neutralise pathogens by 4 distinct and different methods:

1. Chemical structure / contact: The silver particles are made up of silver atoms, which in turn are made up of protons (positively charged) and electrons (negatively charged). Normally an atom has an equal number of protons and electrons giving it a balanced neutral electrical charge. However, the new colloidal silver solution technology literally rips off 2 electrons from the silver atom, turning then into a +2 positively charged atom (otherwise known as an ion). When close to a pathogen, the silver ion will attract electrons from the pathogens thin cell membrane, thus rupturing the membrane and killing the pathogen.
