Magnets are quite captivating and appealing rudiments. They are being used for many purposes as well as serve as an element for having fun. A permanent magnet is that magnet that doesn’t call for external influences to produce a magnetic field. Both the permanent magnet and electromagnet can produce a magnetic field. Magnets are repelled as well as attracted by other bodied and objects. If an object can be attracted or repelled by a field than such objects are said to possess high permeability like iron and steel.

Any type of magnet has two poles:

a) North Pole

b) South Pole

Even if a magnet is condensed to a smallest possible size than also it will still have two contrasting poles. Magnet has a property that similar poles will get repelled while opposite poles will attract each other.

The various uses of magnets are as follows:

1) Playing around with these magnets can also supply amusement for children as well as adults. Living with the unbelievable capabilities of these magnets makes one at terror; it’s just like a magic since they cling to metal surface. By merely coiling wires into the shape of a loop, electricity is made to pass through these coils and due to this a magnetic field is generated.

2) Magnets are quite functional and have been used for many everyday tasks. Many of the things that we take pleasure in using utilize magnets in some other way. For illustration, magnets are transformed into strips in which information can be secured. As in the case of tapes used for storing audio and video, the resonance and pictures are stored onto the tape’s magnetic covering. The data stored inside these magnetic tapes would be destroyed if they are kept near a strong field.

3) The above mentioned magnetic band contains information which is required to admission the financial records and information regarding the monetary institutions that are concerned with the ATM card.

4) For the working of speakerphones and microphones also, magnets are used. They exploit a grouping of undying magnet and an electromagnet. Speakers utilize the electromagnet to take the electric signals that produce a changeable magnetic field which in turn influences the movement of the magnetic fields which are produced by the permanent magnet. This chronic energy moves the funnel which in turn produces the resonance. The reverse of this concept is used by the microphone.

5) Television sets and monitors of computers also use these magnets to produce images.

6) For proper functioning, generators and electric motors also need magnets. They are also used in transformers. Some of the amazing uses of magnets include their use in refrigerators.

7) Nowadays magnets are also being used for making photo frames that can cling themselves to iron or steel. These frames have a magnet attached at the back side. They are called photo magnet.

Permanent magnets can be demagnetized in number of ways:

1) By rubbing one piece of magnet to another in an arbitrary style. 2) Concentrated heat also disturbs the intensity of the magnet.
