Obesity is acquiring epidemic magnitude in the United States and other affluent countries of the Western world. This has provided lucrative business opportunities to the makers of slimming pills which have mushroomed all over the country.

The constituents of the slimming pills aim at somehow reducing the appetite of the consumers so that they eat less and thus reduce their weight. Some of these slimming pills cause numerous side effects which add to the existing problem of obesity and create serious yet avoidable medical complications.

Some of the side effects include sudden and repeated bowel movement and oily stools and involuntary and embarrassing gaseous anal leakages.

A case in point is the clinical findings for the slimming pill Alli which is known to cause diarrhea, gaseous leakages and other side effects. This pill binds with fats in the body and takes them out through the excretory system without allowing them to digest properly. Moreover it also obstructs the essential fats which are beneficial for the body.

Some slimming pills contain certain diuretics that induce water loss. If a pill, for example, makes you lose one pound of water, you reduce your weight by the same amount. But the moment you drink liquids, the depleted quantity of water is recouped again and your weight comes back to its original position.

Diuretics consumed without the prescription from a doctor may prove detrimental to the health. Certain diuretics promote potassium loss along with the water shortage in the body. Potassium is an essential element for numerous physical functions of our body. Its depletion can cause muscle weakness. Even your heart muscle may also become weak. The paucity of potassium also causes mental confusion. Water depletion is particularly dangerous if you are living in hot climates where dehydration may create numerous complications.

Some slimming pills contain laxatives which may lead to diarrhea. Constant diarrhea may disturb the digestive process and cause dehydration due to water loss through the stools. Some laxatives are so severe that they tend to destroy normal movement of the bowels. Taken over a long time, they prevent the ability to produce normal stools.

Slimming pills usually act as appetite suppressants. They use adrenaline derivatives which cause harmful side effects such as palpitation of heart, dry mouth, sleeplessness, restlessness and anxiety.

Killing your natural appetite is an unnatural process of slimming. The idea is if you do not feel hungry you will not eat and will not become fat. In this way you may even shed your existing fat as well.

Some of these appetite suppressants contain amphetamine derivatives which make the consumers addictive. They tend to lose their suppressive effect if used over a long time. So, if you take the slimming pills with such constituents, you not only waste your money but contract more medical problems as well.
