LOSING WEIGHT ON MY OWN?I listened to a recovering food addict chronicled her story of food abuse and obesity and her attempt to hide her emotional pain with instant gratification of over-eating. Many diets over the years failed as she became obese, depressed, frustrated, ate more food and gained more weight. Her battle grew bigger than her as her condition worsened. Finally she turned it over to God for help. Its now over two years and she has self control and weight control. Traditionally food is used to solve the problem of hunger not a pacifier for anger, depression, anxiety, or other emotional tendencies. When used this way, food becomes addictive just like drugs or smoking. Overeating can lead to obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, gluttony, strokes, myocardial infarction (MI) to name a few. These diseases cost millions to treat yearly. SUPER-SIZE ME Restaurants are super-sizing our meals but not everyone stops eating or drinking with the sensation of fullness. This is a problem in America, because even the children are at risk of developing diseases from overeating. The fat you see on my outside is worst on my inside. CAN GOD HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS? God wants us to prosper and be in good health… 3rd John 2. He wants to change us from the inside out as He lives in our hearts but He cannot dwell in us with the junk of anger, depression, etc. Romans 12: 19 - 21; God asked us to feed our enemies not overfeed ourselves. John 15: 4 - 5…without Him we can do nothing. Yes God has helped this lady, many others and will do the same for YOU. SOME WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT - Try this "NEW START" Program for physical, mental, spiritual and financial health. NUTRITION - Have you considered a vegetarian diet? You would need a healthcare professional who can guide you to proper food selections and portions. Try to replace the meats in your diets, high-fats, high caloric foods, replace them with natural foods as grown, simply prepared for nutritional value. EXERCISE - This is the most inexpensive way to lose weight and keep it off. I know most people do not like this choice but it is the best. Always check with your doctor before you start any new exercise program. Aerobic exercise 20 - 20 minutes x 3 times weekly; alternate with 30 minutes of strength and flexibility exercise x 3 weekly. Exercise causes release of endorphins (a happy hormone) which increase immune functions, kills pain, gives an elated feeling of well-being and makes you more resistant to diseases. Exercise helps lowers blood pressure, strengthens the heart, improves circulation, lowers cholesterol levels in the blood, strengthens bones, lifts depression, relieves anxiety, increases energy, sex drive and happiness. WATER - If you are medically permitted, drink enough to keep your urine clear. Do not use the caloric water this is drinking juice. The body loses about 10 - 12 cups of water daily via the wastes, lungs and skin. We take in about two to four cups in our foods so we should drink about eight glasses per day. SUNLIGHT - Helps with melatonin production which helps us to sleep well at night, a great germ killer, helps with manufacture of vitamin D which aids in the uptake of calcium, enhances the immune system, pain and PMS control etc. Excessive exposure may lead to skin cancer, dehydration, wrinkles, dried and aged looking skin etc. TEMPERANCE - The ability to control the self is a major factor in any successful person’s life. Try to practice moderation in every aspects of your life. You cannot be lazy or nonchalant about your life and finances. Work hard at life and YOU WILL SUCCEED! AIR - We need oxygen to run this amazing body. Learn to love the outdoors. Find ways to improve the quality of air in and around your home. If you smoke try join a cessation program and pray for help with this habit. Practice deep breathing frequently. REST - The fast-paced life most of us live allows little time for rest. We are always tired, fatigued and run-down. Rest allows your body to renew itself, so rest a while. TRUST IN DEVINE POWER - We are always seeking for the next best thing. Never finding it we continue to seek. God will keep us in perfect peace if our minds are steadfast and we trust Him. CONCLUSION - If we abide in God and He in us, we can do all things so trust God for help. Ask His blessings on finances, family, home, and work and may peace, happiness and prosperity be yours. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. A healthy lifestyle can keep off the aging processes as much as 20 - 30 years or more and prevents diseases too; so eat to live not live to eat and remember, "diets don’t always work but God does"!
