Your house is the best shelter for your pet dog. However, if you are no longer comfortable with your dog inside your house and sometimes is not possible to share the space with your dog, a dog house would be an option.

The use of dog houses has started thousand years ago. Ancient Egyptian used mud kennels and war time dog crates for their pet. Historically, dog houses have been hand-made from materials that could be scraped such as wood and plastic. Through time, the dog house industry had grown.

There are dog houses that are readily available in the market these days. You can even have them ordered online. In choosing dog house there are basic factors that should be put into considerations. First is the size of the house to fit the dog. Make sure that the size of the dog house is suitable enough for your dog. You might be tempted to buy a roomy house for your dog. That would not be appreciated however by your dog especially during cold months. There should be a room for them to turn around, stretch and lie down in comfortable position. Second, make sure that the house is well ventilated. Make sure it has a good air flow that will keep it from overheating especially during hot weather. Proper ventilation will prevent molds from forming during cold weather. You can put bedding for extra warm for your pet during rainy and cold weather. Some preferred to build houses for their dog off the ground. This keeps the dog from damp soil during rain and prevents wood dog house from rotting. Consider the materials that are used for the dog house. If your dog chews, consider a dog house that is made of hard plastics. Make sure that it is sturdy and safe for your dog. Cleaning the house would be another thing to consider also, make sure that it is easy to clean. You do not want your pet to live in a stinky place.

Dog houses are the second home for your pet. Make sure that it is built as comfortable as your house and safe for your dog. Consider the above things in buying dog house.
