If products are available to purchase online it is very important that the website shows plenty images of the product from all angles and provides as much information as possible. Offering dimensions, measurements, size guides, conversion rates and any product advice can often be the deciding vote between the user going onto the high street, where they could be enticed into another retailer, and them purchasing the item there and then online. Another obstacle that many online consumers are faced with is registering; being required to enter details or register to a website before being able purchase is something that often deters many people from taking the transaction further. Although it can be useful to have your details saved for returning customers it is ideal if a quick purchase option is also available.
Although these points were written without any web design experience what so ever and perhaps they are already being addressed by designers, they are taken from the experiences of an average internet user and it is the average internet user that the majority of websites wish to entice and gain the support of. So these points should be considered by any web designer, if they do not provide an increase in people using the site then at least you will win the one vote of this average internet user.
